In 1992 Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana, in cooperation with, and at the request of, several Montana medical providers, established a nonprofit organization for the sole purpose of providing medical services to uninsured children in Montana. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana, a founding member of the Foundation, donates 100 percent of the administration costs necessary to operate the Foundation. Appropriately named the Caring Foundation of Montana, Inc., the organization has one basic program:

Caring Program for Children

Given the current economic situation and the uninsured problems that exist in Montana, the demand for services provided by the Foundation continues to grow. In short, the Foundation is reaching out in an effort to raise awareness and increase necessary funding in order to continue providing these valuable services to Montana’s uninsured population.

As a Montana not-for-profit organization, the Caring Foundation relies on the generosity and support of our business partners, civic organizations, individuals and other foundations to raise awareness and appropriate funding. Currently, there are three statewide events which help generate a portion of the money needed to support the foundation:

These events do not generate the level of funding we need to continue our programs. Therefore, the Foundation and its board of directors have taken aggressive measures to help maintain and build upon our funding sources.

Every dollar brought into the Foundation directly helps the children who need access to primary and preventive medical, dental, and vision services.
